George Barker, the "Eminent photographer of Niagara Falls" was born in London, Ontario and died at Niagara Falls, New York. At 18, he worked in New York with American photographer of Niagara Falls, Platt D. Babbitt (1822-1879). He and Barker were known for their views of the Falls with figures captured in its mists. Barker maintained studios both in London, Ontario and in New York where he became nationally known for his spectacular, large format (up to 18" x 20") views of Niagara Falls.
