This fine work is one of 20 oil paintings from Gaston Roullet's trip to Canada in 1887. The subject is Glacier Crest, a mountain peak in Rogers Pass, BC near the famous Canadian Pacific Railway hotel Glacier House which operated until 1925. Glacier House was expanded twice, in 1892 and 1904, and was built before its better-known sister properties, the Banff Springs and Hotel Vancouver, and was the inspiration for the Chateau Lake Louise.
