Eve Arnold was born in 1912 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Starting in 1946 Arnold worked for Kodak at a New York photo-finishing plant, and she began to began to document the city with a humanitarian perspective. In 1959 she became a full member of the Magnum agency, with work appearing in Look, Life, Stern, Pari-Match and the London Times. Her work can be found in many important collections including the National Portrait Gallery (London), Yale University (New Haven), Museum of Fine Arts (Houston), George Eastman Museum (Rochester NY) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York). Eve Arnold died in 2012 at the age of 99, in London, England.
