Don McVeigh was born in 1951 in Edmonton, Alberta. He studied printmaking at the University of Alberta, receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1972. He then studied at the University of Regina, receiving his Master of Fine Arts in 1978. McVeigh moved to Ottawa, Ontario in 1985. McVeigh's watercolour paintings have been noted for their 'almost photographic' imagery and the artist has been praised for his 'mposing technical facility'. In addition to watercolour, McVeigh has worked in printmaking and drawing. McVeigh's works have been exhibited across Canada since the early 1970s, including, in 1973, in a group exhibition at the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa. His work is represented in several public and private collections. Don McVeigh lives in Ottawa, where he teaches drawing at the Ottawa School of Art.
