Darlene Tincher was born in 1942 in Stove Creek, Saskatchewan and was raised on a farm near Invermay. After high school she moved to Weyburn to pursue a Psychiatric Nursing degree, graduating in 1963, and was employed as a Psych Nurse in Weyburn for 19 years. During that time she attended many art workshops with instructors such as Wilf Perreault, Gus Froese and Eltje Degenhart. Pursuing her interest in art making, at the age of 45 Tincher attended the University of Regina, studying printmaking under Jack Cowin and drawing and painting under Lessa Streifler. She graduated with a BFA in 1990 and a Bachelor of Art History in 1991. Tincher then had her own art studio for 15 years in Regina and her work is in many private collections across Canada.
