Dan Taylor was born in 1935 in Edmonton, Alberta. He established his Taylor Clayworks studio in Medicine Hat, Alberta, and thrived making functional stoneware pottery, often using the same prairie clay as was used in historic Medalta pottery. In 2002, he moved from Medicine Hat to Victoria, British Columbia. Dan Taylor died in 2004, in Victoria.
