Colin Gillespie Mitchell trained at the Glasgow School of Art and exhibited at the RSA and RGI. He was the Hon. Secretary of the Glasgow Art Club and portrayed scenes on the Tweed and the Clyde. In the 1930s, he spent some time in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. This panormic view is contained in the original elaborate Scottish frame carrying the label of MacIndoe's gallery in Glasgow, where the artist died.
