Christina Grace began exhibiting her art at age 15 during the 1967 Montreal World Expo, presenting her first bronze sculpture. From there, she mentored under artist and philosopher Sorel Etrog, learning the conventions of abstract sculpture which would later influence her paintings. Grace’s gestural artwork blends her love of the New York Abstract Expressionists with her international education, including studies at l’Université de la Sorbonne and l’École du Louvre, as well as at the University of New Mexico, and Santa Monica College of Design, Art, and Architecture. While known for her highly textured gestural paintings, her background as a sculptor led her to create more unconventional works, such as her painting reliefs and sandscapes - a process where Grace sculpts sand and lava onto a canvas evoking “intuitive” imagery. Concerning her multi-media platform, Grace stated, “Paintings, reliefs or sculptures, they all are the expression of my intense belief that the marriage of inner and outer beauty allows us as humans to touch the sublime.”
