Carlos Pascual de Lara was born in Madrid, Spain in 1922. He studied at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, in Madrid, and began his career focused on drawing, illustration and set design. He was associated with the Second Vallecas School style of art, creating work which was both mystical and representative. Later in his career Pascual de Lara was awarded important mural commissions, including the for the Royal Basilica of Our Lady of Atocha, and the Teatro Real in Madrid. Carlos Pascual de Lara died in Madrid in 1958, at the age of 36, following a stroke.
