Bill Nasogaluak was born in Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, in 1953. He is a multidisciplinary artist, and educator, now based in Northern Ontario. His work often explores contemporary Inuit life. In 1999, Nasogaluak was team leader for the creation of a new Ceremonial Mace for the Northwest Territories Legislature. Other commissions have resulted in Nasogaluak artworks presented to Mexico, India, Peru and Japan, and in 1994 a Nasogaluak sculpture was presented to Prime Minister Jean Chrétien by the Government of the Northwest Territories. Bill Nasogaluak has exhibited across Canada and internationally, and his work can be found in many public collections including the Art Gallery of Ontario (Toronto) and the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre (Yellowknife).
