SKNAC bio: Arnold Tiefenbach was born in Regina, Saskatchewan in 1950, and raised on the family farm near Lajord, Saskatchewan. He studied at the University of Regina, where he took instruction from Joe Fafard, among others. He began painting seriously in his 40s, and developed a distinctive folk art style which he playfully calls 'Nouveau Naive'. Major influences have been William Kurelek and Henri Rousseau. Tiefenbach is also an award-winning journalist who penned 'Say it Again, Sam', a biography of world champion curler Sam Richardson, and his paintings are infused with people, narratives and thoughtful observations of the human condition. Tiefenbach's work has been exhibited across Canada, including a 2008 one-person show at the University of Regina. Arnold Tiefenbach now lives in Manitou Beach, Saskatchewan.
