Toronto artist Amanda Reeves creates finely wrought minimalist paintings that, according to Globe and Mail critic R.M. Vaughan, are reminiscent of “traditional Islamic calligraphic art as well as modernist decorative motifs from the mid-1960s.” A graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design, Reeves has shown at numerous private galleries including p/m Gallery as well as at Art Chicago and the Toronto International Art Fair. In 2008 she was awarded Honorable Mention in the RBC Painting Competition and was shown at the National Gallery of Canada and the Musee d’art contemporain in Montreal. The recipient of numerous awards and scholarships, her work is held in several prominent corporate collections.
