Pietro Kossan was born in 1906 in Odessa, Russia. He emigrated from Russian to Holland in 1919, and attended the Academy of Fine Art in Amsterdam. After extensive travel throughout Europe, Kossan returned to Amsterdam where he worked and exhibited with great success, his work being notable for its strong technique and surprising use of colour.
