Marian Maier was born in Regina, Saskatchewan. She earned her Bachelor of Education in Arts Education (with a major in visual art education) and her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Regina. Ms. Maier went on to earn various graduate degrees. She completed a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, with Dr. Norman Yakel (Arts Education, University of Regina) as her advisor. Maier studied at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia to earn her Master of Education Psychology, specializing in Teaching Students with Visual Impairments. She also completed a Master’s Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at the University of Regina and a Master of Education in Indigenous Education through the University of Regina and First Nations University of Canada. Ms. Maier began her teaching career in the Czech Republic. She then returned to Saskatchewan, where she has been an educator for over 20 years. Along with other subjects, Ms. Maier has taught visual art to children and youths in Kawacatoose First Nation, Pasqua First Nation, Carry the Kettle First Nation and Regina. Marian Maier continues to live and work in Regina, Saskatchewan.
