John Elder was born and raised in Saskatchewan, but travelled to Britain in 1985 to study with English potter Mick Casson. Elder has participated in over 50 exhibitions including the Santa Fe Invitational 'Cups' Exhibition, International Juried Wood-Fired Exhibition, and NECCA 2004 International Orton Cone Box Exhibition, and has has works in many private collections as well as the Saskatchewan Arts Board.
