Jay Isaac (b. 1975, New Brunswick, Canada) studied at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, Vancouver, Canada (1993-1997) and at the Cardiff Institute of Art and Design, Cardiff, Wales (1996). His work has been widely exhibited, with notable shows at Galleria d’art moderna di Bologna, Bologna (2002); Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art, Toronto (2002, 2006); Mercer Union, Toronto (2002); Galerie Kunstbuero, Vienna, Austria (2004); The Power Plant, Toronto (2004); White Columns, New York (2004); Cue Art Foundation, New York, (2005); Agnes Etherington Art Centre, Kingston (2007); Weatherspoon Art Museum, Greensboro, North Carolina (2009); The Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto (2002, 2009); Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver (2010); Night Gallery, Los Angeles (2011); Monte Clark Gallery, Toronto and Vancouver (2012, 2014, 2016); Beaverbrook Art Gallery, Fredericton (2014); soon.tw, Montreal, Quebec (2017); David Risley Gallery, Copenhagen, Denmark (2017); Steinsland Berliner, Stockholm, Sweden (2017); McIntosh Gallery, London, Ontario (2017); Paul Petro Contemporary Art, Toronto (2001, 2002, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2017). He has received numerous awards including recent Canada Council grants (2017 and 2018) and Ontario Arts Council grants (2018). A forthcoming book of drawings is being published by Swimmers Group. Isaac lives and works in Toronto, Canada.
